Our Vineyards

On rich, volcanic soil Charles King planted the Old Hill Vineyard in 1880. With a firm belief in regional definition, single vineyard wines and a thorough understanding of the Hunter Valley landscape the late Maurice O’Shea planted the famed Rosehill and Lovedale™ Vineyards in the Hunter Valley in 1945.

Today, Mount Pleasant Chief Winemaker Phil Ryan pays homage to their foresight by creating wines which are quintessential expressions of their origins.

Lovedale Vineyard

Lovedale™

The Lovedale™ Vineyard was planted in 1946 by legendary winemaker, the late Maurice O’Shea. Today, the vineyard is widely recognised as one of Australia’s greatest sources of Semillon.

Rosehill Vineyard

Rosehill

Like Lovedale™, Rosehill is widely recognised as one of the elite vineyards in the Hunter Valley. Planted entirely to Shiraz, the Rosehill Vineyard provides fruit from the super premium Roseshill Shiraz and Philip Shiraz.

Old Paddock & Old Hill Vineyard

Old Paddock & Old Hill

English immigrant Charles King planted the Old Hill Vineyard on rich, volcanic soil in Pokolbin in 1880. When Maurice O’Shea purchased the King family’s 16.3ha Hunter Valley property in 1921, he extended the land holding with the purchase of two adjoining parcels of land, on which the ‘Old Paddock’ vineyard was planted.
